Lunchinars Welcomes Lynette Crane to our Platinum Speaker Line-Up
Lynette Crane is a Minneapolis-based speaker, writer, and coach who specializes in helping overly-busy women expand their time and find “islands of peace” in their daily lives from which to make choices that lead them to fulfill their potential as creative, productive principals in their chosen field.
One of the transformative events in her life was a “heart attack which never should have happened” to a healthy, stress-solutions expert with 30 years of teaching, speaking and writing in that field, and it taught her more about handling stress and living fully than any other teacher could.
She believes that managing stress well isn’t just about saving your life; it’s about making it a life worth saving, and she leads women to create a “juicy” life, even when they think they don’t have the time to do so.
Lynette specializes in two areas: helping employers improve their bottom line by supporting the wellness of their employees, leading to decreased absenteeism and increased motivation; and helping individual women achieve their peak potential in both personal and professional life.
Lynette’s 27 years of hands-on expertise in the field of creative life changes was preceded by an undergraduate degree in psychology from Stanford University and a Master’s Degree from the University of California at Riverside.
Her training programs have benefited employees at a number of organizations, including Faegre Baker Daniels Law Firm, Fredrikson & Byron Law Firm, the University of Minnesota, Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center San Francisco, and the San Francisco Unified School District.
What clients have said/raved about Lynette Crane:
“You MOVED the crowd to emotional ups and to a moment of reflection. There is nothing better than that. Bravo and well done.” Susan A. Fink, Vice President, External Relations, Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation
“Her presentation was a huge success because her personal story made the concern very real. It was a wake-up call to those in our audience who don’t have such healthy lifestyles. If it could happen to a healthy female adult doing all the right things, then they were at greater risk than they realized. We would definitely recommend Lynette to any organization looking for a speaker who is conveying a positive message about simple steps to take control of your health and that it’s never too late to make improvements and possibly reverse some of the damage already done.” Sue Pearson, Director of Administration, Murnane Brandt Law Firm, St. Paul. MN
“I have had so many wonderful comments on your presentation – and many thanks from those who attended. You did a fantastic job, and gave out some very helpful information. Thanks Lynette!” Lisa Simon, Mgr. Benefits & HRMS, Faegre & Benson Law Firm, Minneapolis
“You always do such marvelous presentations – so full of passion and sophistication/scholarship woven into one. A hard combo to master!” Ruth Lindquist, Ph.D., U of MN Professor of Nursing
“She consistently receives outstanding ratings on the course evaluations…. She has designed much of the material she presented, tailoring it to our needs. With her understanding of teaching, program development, and consulting skills, I am confident Ms. Crane would be an excellent contract instructor for any business or government organization.” Laureen Burke, Employee Development Specialist, Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center, San Francisco California
“Over 200 women attended her talk. In all the years I have been here, I have never heard so many positive comments from our members about a speaker!” Mary Lou Christenson, American Association of University Women, Minneapolis

EXPAND YOUR TIME, TAME YOUR TENSIONS … and E X P A N D YOUR LIFE!
Beyond PDA’s & Priority Lists
Topic: Time and Stress Management
We live in an overly-busy culture where health and personal life suffer from the hassles of daily life.
Most people today don’t realize that only 10% of our stress is due to what happens to us and 90% is due to the choices we make. When they are told this, they don’t know how to find the time to slow down and make those more serene choices.
Drawing on the latest research on stress, time perception, and brain function, Lynette Crane shows lay audiences how to discover “places and spaces” in their everyday routines that can lead them to “islands of peace,” from which they can make those better choices – all without giving up any of their important daily activities!
Concepts covered include “How stress makes you stupid” “Why are you running when there’s no prize?” “Solving impossible problems” as well as quick, easy ways to immediately implement wellness routines that can make one stress-resistant.
DISCOVER HOW OTHER PEOPLE MISUNDERSTAND YOU
…and what to do about it
Topic: Communication & Conflict Reduction
The stress of poor communication leads to mistakes, misunderstandings, conflict, and confrontations… all because people think they are communicating well when they are not. Cooperation and teamwork deteriorate; leadership goes astray, and tension rises.
Lynette Crane has over 30 years’ experience helping people unravel the mysteries of individual behavioral and communication styles, styles that cross gender and cultural lines, and learn quick, easy skills that they can implement immediately to make dramatic changes in their work behavior, allowing them to:
- Communicate effectively – and reduce errors
- Raise awareness of contributions each member makes to a team – and lower conflict – and raise morale
- Reduce tension, resolve conflicts – and save time
- Improve wellness and improve performance
- Raise productivity which impacts profitability in a positive way …and more
THE CONFIDENT INTROVERT:
For unconfident introverts, shy extroverts and anyone who wants the freedom and joy of a full life while remaining true to yourself
Topic: Personal Power & Growth
Why do some people seem to get ahead so easily, while others struggle? Being smart and competent isn’t enough to ensure success. Leadership and renown aren’t necessarily rewards for being good at what you do – they are recognition of how visible you have made your excellent qualities to others.
Our increased interaction with technology rather than with other people has greatly decreased our skills at being visible and at being comfortable with revealing ourselves to other people. It has resulted, in fact, in shyness, defined as social anxiety that keeps one from doing and saying what we really want to do or say, and has increased dramatically in the United States in the last 20 years such that over 50% of Americans report that they feel shy much of the time!
As described in Lynette’s upcoming book, becoming visible and valuable to other people is simply a matter of learnable skills, skills which are well-worth acquiring because they contribute enormously not only to professional success, but to personal happiness, income, and even health.
Publications include:
- The Psychology of Stress: from Distress to Eustress
- Stop Your Stress Now! Quick ways for busy people to be stress-resistant
- 30 Steps to Serenity, an audio self-coaching program
- A Journey to Your Islands of Peace, an audio relaxation program
- The Confident Introvert (due out in Fall 2012)
